Community Outreach

Business Finance Group Community/Nonprofit

Our non-profit mission is focused on economic development through assisting growing small businesses with financing; however, our company values focus on a broader mission that includes providing community support, services and donations to a variety of nonprofits. We are proud of our service record and the dedication of our staff, who also share our focus on extending a hand to others. Examples of some of our efforts are noted below.

Our Daily Bread

Our office has steadily been collecting food and pantry donations for Our Daily Bread, a local non-profit that identifies and addresses unmet needs of area residents, while empowering the community to help neighbors maintain self-sufficiency. Collecting food for the needy, BFG has been able to support and help many families in need.

Brain Cancer

We became aware of a toddler diagnosed with a brain tumor that is nearly always fatal. His tumor required specialized radiation treatment that involved extensive travel.

To support the family and their foundation, our staff created a variety of activities to raise funds. Some of the activities included an in-house ‘shave a beard’ lunch, a fundraising breakfast where the President cooked the food, a white elephant gift exchange auction, and an auction to ‘buy a vacation day.’ We raised over $2,700 that helped the family focus on the needed care for their child rather than worrying about how to pay the bills. Today, he is enrolled in school, active, and enjoying life.

Muscular Dystrophy Foundation

Creative fundraising for MDA included a mock arrest of the President with staff and company contacts posting bail for her release. Over $3,600 was raised for this event.

Multiple Sclerosis

Our team participated in a fundraising walk, raising over $3,000 for Multiple Sclerosis. Since one of our staff is afflicted, we were personally motivated to assist.

Hurricane Katrina Rebuilding

Several employees went to New Orleans to work with a local organization rebuilding homes in the 9th Ward. The employees volunteered their time and Business Finance Group paid for their travel. President Sally Robertson organized the event as part of a trade association meeting being held in New Orleans. We provided countless hours of volunteer time, and are proud of the fact that Business Finance Group provided the largest group of volunteers.

Support for our Military

We collected and sent several boxes of goods to an Army base in Afghanistan to support the spouse (and his team) of a member of our trade association, the National Association of Development Companies (NADCO).

Community Support

During the holiday season, we look to help those in our community who are not as fortunate. Past support efforts have included donated funds and volunteer efforts to supply families in the area with a Thanksgiving meal, sponsoring families at Christmas, and providing gifts and food.

For the past several years, our office has been a drop off point for Toys for Tots. We include guests at our Annual Meeting during the holidays, asking them to bring a toy for the Marines.

We typically assist children in our area with “Back to School” supplies. This year we did something different. After families in Minot, North Dakota, experienced floods for 73 days, homes were lost and schools were under water. To help the children and families, we sent $1,800 in gift cards for the purchase of school supplies that were lost in the floods.
