Rick Frank, President and Chief Executive Officer
Rick Frank was appointed President of Business Finance Group in October 2016, to succeed the retiring Sally Robertson. Rick has thirty-five years’ experience in banking, with significant exposure to SBA programs, serving on the Business Finance Group Board of Directors for twenty years and serving on NADCO’s Lender Advisory Council for six years.
Rick began his career with First Virginia Bank in 1981 after graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University and worked in their Northern Virginia, Fredericksburg and Roanoke markets. He later held key positions in Fredericksburg area community banks after leaving First Virginia Bank in 1998. As its Senior Lender and Executive Vice President, Rick led Virginia Heartland Bank to the Small Business Administration’s Top Community Bank Lender award in Virginia in 2005 and 2006. Rick was named Financial Services Champion by the Small Business Administration for Virginia in 2005. As the Specialty Lending Manager at successor organization StellarOne Bank, Rick led that institution to Virginia’s Top Intermediate Bank Lender award in 2010. From 2010 until joining Business Finance Group, Rick was Senior Vice President of Fredericksburg-based Virginia Partners Bank. Rick has a graduate degree in banking from the Consumer Bankers Association Graduate School of Retail Bank Management and served on the faculty of that school for several years.
Sally Robertson, Senior Advisor
As the former President and Chief Executive Officer for Business Finance Group (BFG) for over 20 years, Sally Robertson has been the driving force behind the consistent growth and market dominance that BFG has enjoyed. In concert with an active Board of Directors, Sally set forth a vision and created a Certified Development Company focused on excellence and superior client support, while staffing BFG with knowledgeable and experienced professionals.
Prior to BFG, Sally was the Director of Finance for a prominent real estate developer in Northern Virginia, with prior experience as a Controller in the real estate industry.
Sally was selected by the Washington District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration as the Financial Services Advocate of the Year, and was appointed to the U.S. Small Business Administrations National Advisory Council.
Wayne Garcia, Chief Credit Officer
With over thirty-five years in the bank credit industry, Wayne Garcia has been with Business Finance Group for the past ten years, and is the Chief Credit Officer responsible for all aspects of credit underwriting, credit policy and loan processes. Wayne oversees the SBA application process including eligibility, underwriting, packaging, modifications, and appraisal and environmental reports. He works closely with our loan management software and electronic imaging software providers. Prior to joining Business Finance Group, Wayne worked as a bank lender and has experience with consumer credit, C&I lending and CRE lending in community and super-regional banks.
Angela Smith, Vice President, Loan Servicing Manager
As the Vice President of Loan Servicing, Angela Smith is responsible for the loan servicing team. Her responsibilities include ensuring compliance with SBA portfolio requirements and assisting lending partners and borrowers with post-funding requests.
Prior to joining BFG, Angela held management positions with two large banks, increasing SBA lending activity and streamlining loan processing. She has worked with underserved markets creating financial education and lending programs, offering alternative financial options for borrowers.
Angela has served as a Loan Committee Member to the Georgia Small Business Capital Corporation, Board Member and Loan Committee Member to SomerCor 504, Board Member to Harris Bank Foundation, and Board Member to the Chicago Association of Neighborhood Development Organizations.
Sharon Masin, Director of Finance and Accounting
Sharon Masin brings deep experience in the accounting and finance fields to the Business Finance Group. As the Director of Finance and Accounting, she is responsible for all accounting, finance, and budget oversight. She also manages the administration of employee benefits, insurance, worker’s comp, health insurance benefit management, liability and property insurance, and Business Finance Groups’ annual audit.
Prior to joining the team, Sharon was Vice President of Finance and Administration for Axis, a leading marketing strategy and graphic design firm, and also worked with CDG Solutions. Dedicated to streamlining process and procedure, Sharon offers unique insight to systems and workflow, creating efficiencies enjoyed by the staff and company alike.
